COMPASS develops the Child Protection Budget Brief (CPBB) for Trinidad and Tobago

Advocacy and capacity building for policy and financing changes in Public Finance for Children (PF4C). UNICEF Office for the Eastern Caribbean Area’s (ECA) and the Government of the Republic of Trinidad and Tobago (GORTT) are aiming to expand the production of evidence on PF4C to support their advocacy capacity and strengthen their childcare reform. The Government is committed to the advancement of child protection in Trinidad and Tobago with the intention to put in place targeted strategies to better help the children’s conditions.

To do so, with the support of UNICEF ECA, the COMPASS team has conducted several coaching sessions and data collection sessions with the Ministry of Finance, the Children’s Authority, the Ministries of Education, Health, and Family and Children Judiciary Division, amongst others. This consultancy will produce the CPBB with an interactive tool and data, the CPBB highlights document, and will conduct a workshop for 25 participants in key agencies. This process will definitely be a cornerstone to increasing the effectiveness and efficiency of public expenditure on child protection-related issues, through a strengthened capacity from UNICEF ECA officials and the GORTT on budget analysis and advocacy.
