COMPASS Institute is participating in “Building Connection: An Indigenous Engagement Summit for Saskatchewan Settlement Workers”, held on September 17–18, 2026, in North Battleford, Saskatchewan. The event brings together settlement-sector professionals, Indigenous Knowledge Keepers, community leaders, and organizations to strengthen understanding, dialogue, and collaboration between Indigenous Peoples and newcomer communities.
During the Summit, Ariane Ortiz, Quality Control Director at COMPASS Institute, is presenting the findings of the study “Relations between Indigenous Peoples and Francophone Newcomers in Saskatchewan”, together with representatives of the Fransaskois Community Assembly (ACF), the Francophone Immigration Network of Saskatchewan (RIF-SK), and the Francophone Welcome and Inclusion Service of Saskatchewan (SAIF-SK). The presentation highlights the current state of relations between the two communities, key challenges identified through the research, and opportunities to strengthen mutual understanding and create more structured spaces for dialogue and engagement.
The Summit also includes Indigenous-led sessions, cultural activities, collaborative workshops, and sharing circles aimed at fostering stronger and more meaningful relationships across communities.
